Isabella’s 3rd agility class
In Isabella’s 3rd agility class, she first practiced walking around 6 poles alternating sits and downs at each one. She seemed to be a bit more stubborn in this class. She no longer wanted to follow Brett without a bribe. Maybe she is the better trainer? LOL
She was introduced to the yellow weeble wobble boards. I don’t know what they were really called but that is my nickname for them. They are supposed to help with their balance and feeling things move under their feet. Some of the dogs didn’t even want to get on them at all so I was pretty excited to see her give it a little try even if she didn’t stay on them for long.
She also walked across the teeter totter for the very first time but I don’t have videos of that. I was helping to spot her and control the movement of the board so it wouldn’t scare her in any way. She liked the teeter a lot and went across several times.
She then moved on to targeting. They used a little white lid on the floor that you put a treat in. Our goal was to teach Isabella to target the lid … basically, run to it. She started jumping over one jump and eventually progressed to all three. The jumps were placed on the floor for her. When she gets bigger we’ll rotate the pvc squares so there is some height to the horizontal poles. We mostly just wanted her to run over them and end at a certain point.
The last game they played was called barrel racing. The dogs start inside a square on the floor and then take off to jump 4 jumps as fast as they can and ending back inside the square again. It was just too funny… she is NOT toy motivated at all! Once Brett showed her the chicken, she kicked it in four-paw drive and ran!!!! Boy did she sleep when she came home. We never heard a peep out of her until it was breakfast time.
