If not holding an umbrella …

    mulch

… then we will be hauling mulch.  Ugh.  Highs forecasted in the mid 90’s.
I already know I do not have enough lemonade in the fridge to get me through this project.
It’s just wrong when the mulch pile is bigger than my car.

    My brother’s wetlands

    Greg's Wetlands

My brother bought about 100 acres of old farm land and turned it into wetlands.  Disappointingly, this photo doesn’t begin to do the beauty of the track of land justice.  I can’t wait to paddle around it in a canoe to discover the wildlife that was busy serenading us.  Very fun … I can see why you love it there so much.

Ever get something that just makes you giggle?

    mini

Every time I pass by my new mini Mini Cooper key chain I can’t help but laugh… then play with it.  You drive the little Mini into the finish garage and it holds the car so you always know where your keys are.   I just need to pick a place to mount the garage and then I am ready to motor.  Thanks Greg for giving it to me yesterday!  It certainly is making me laugh.  BEEP BEEP

    Dad

… Thank You from my heart Chris for taking it and sending it to us!

We almost shared the same birthday when I tried to be born on his
but I ended up making my appearance 3 days later.
We always celebrated our special days together and it is lonely not having you with me.
Mum certainly made up for it in her own special way.  Thanks mum!!!

I will forever miss you dad and love you with all my heart.

I hope we never have to use it

    Centurion

… but we are getting prepared for Tuesday’s ice storm.  A few years ago, when hurricane Ike knocked out our power for almost a week we quickly learned the value of a generator!  If it wasn’t for our unbelievably sweet friends bringing us theirs to use we would have lost our salt water fish tanks.  I still think back to how kind they were to drive 3 hours to save our silly fish but there they were with generator in tow!
Thank you again Auntie Sharon and Uncle Mike!!!!!!!

    Canine coat color genetics

At the 2010 nationals there was a fun study going on to genetically map the colors of basset hounds so we signed Norman and Isabella up to help.  Dayna L. Dreger, MSc – PhD Candidate was who was researching, collecting information, and helping to evaluate the results.  This is an ongoing study but portions of this work have been accepted for publication in the Journal of Heredity, and should be out in print later this year.

A Basset Hound breed color summary has been posted online.
