Our not so little visitor
After getting out the bird book, we think it is a juvenile Coopers Hawk because it had yellow eyes vs the adult reddish eyes. Our guess it was close to 15-16″ long. It sat in our tree for about 45 minutes or more. Flew off but came back about an hour later. It was quite a beautiful sight to watch! Also found a half eaten chipmunk on the ground where it had been sitting. Thankfully, I got it scooped and thrown away before the puppers finished it off.
